Medieval Gujarat, unattributed Copper coin (700-800 AD), 1.06g. Obv: Figure of a 'Gandharva' (celestial human being) flying to right. Rev: trident in the centre; Kutila legend engraved retrograde reading Shri Vishala (raja?)... around. Very Fine, Rare. From the legend it is evident that the coin was issued by a king named 'Vishalaraja' or 'Visalaraja'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged, but at this time many small Rajput dynasties rose to prominence in Gujarat.
